Indy Car

Overview

IndyCar returns to Nashville August 5-7, 2022 with the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix. For three days, the streets of downtown will come alive with the sounds of music, food, and racing, all spun into an experience you just have to be there to feel.

Mission

We will combine all that Music City does best by hosting a festival-like series of events focused on music, celebrity, food, and racing. We will create a best-in-class annual event on the IndyCar schedule that benefits the city, the fans, and the racing community alike.

About IndyCar

Featuring races at a combination of superspeedways, short ovals, road courses, and temporary street circuits, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES offers its international lineup of drivers the most diverse challenge in motorsports.

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES is held across the U.S. and Canada. While INDYCAR is the governing body for the sport, each individual race is operated by its own ownership group.

These stars drive single-seat cars that feature the new Aeroscreen and a 2.2-liter, twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V-6 engine optimized to run at 12,000 RPM with an estimated 500-700 horsepower depending on the turbocharger boost setting.

A Race That Gets Around Nashville

To make this race even more spectacular, this course is designed to challenge the drivers and excite the fans. This temporary track, or street circuit, takes racers by Nissan Stadium (home of the NFL Tennessee Titans) and over the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge into downtown Nashville.
